Description
Summary:This research set out to study the potential of Internet as a strategic tool to disseminate local bank information. The local banks' web sites evaluated were those of DBS, OCBC, OUB and UOB. A questionnaire was used to conduct a survey on 95 respondents. The questionnaire was administered to a targeted group of graduates and post-graduates. The respondents were all Internet and bank users with at least a general degree. The result of the study indicated that these local banks' web sites were not very popular and not highly used. The reasons for not using these banks' web sites were mainly due to unawareness, more convenient tools such as the telephone, and lack of need. Recommendations are made to promote awareness of the local banks' web sites, create reasons for users to visit and revisit the web sites, and improve the quality of the web sites.
