The early version of CAPP system is retrieval-based. Subsequently, a generative process planning system emerged as a result of further development. It automates a small portion of the overall process planning function or handles a very restricted domain of parts with a certain degree of human interaction. With the advent of computer technology, many research in geometric reasoning (feature recognition) were carried out to bridge the gap between two islands of automation, CAD system and CAPP system. The domain of various feature recognition techniques developed so far is limited to standard prismatic parts or rotational parts. Master of Science (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) 2009-12-15T03:23:30Z 2009-12-15T03:23:30Z 1994 1994 Thesis http://hdl.handle.net/10356/20577 en NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY 189 p. application/pdf
