Description
Summary:Researched with qualitative methods, the purpose of the study is to investigate the interests behind why Singapore politicians, in particular, the Members of Parliament (MP), want to engage in popular social networking site, Facebook. The research also examines the ways in which technological elements and codes in Facebook help to assemble cultural and political ideologies, to help fulfill the MPs’ interests to be on Facebook. It is argued that Facebook is a technological embodiment of power because it provides the necessary conditions in design and technology to construct an ideal and responsible MP. The implications of having politicians on Facebook are also discussed in this paper.
