Summary:In this thesis, we discuss the DIS bandwidth problem and give a brief overview of the major bandwidth reduction techniques currently being investigated and implemented in contemporary DIS systems. A new technique called Auto-adaptive Multi-threshold Dead Reckoning (AMDR) is proposed. Its goal is to reduce the required network bandwidth while maintaining the accuracy of DIS. The basic idea behind AMDR is to adaptively adjust the threshold levels of a local entity based on the relative distance between entities.
