sg-ntu-dr.10356-360982023-03-11T17:01:25Z Role of pre-formatted design templates in enhancing comprehension and adoption of user interface standards Tadwalkar Yogesh Anant Martin Erik Gustav Helander School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Industrial engineering::Human factors engineering 114 p. Many organizations involved in continuous development of websites and software applications create and promote user interface standards to ensure designs are based on proven usability principles, to create consistency across similar interfaces and minimize re-learning time and training needs of the end user. However, due to various metausability problems of the standards document, software developers often find usability standards difficult to use and interpret, restrictive and hence show reluctance in adopting them. The current study aimed to evaluate whether presentation format of standards has effect on their accurate comprehension, and developers' willingness to comply. After evaluation of strengths and weaknesses of current vehicles of standards delivery including guidelines, style guides and standard documents, the most effective current vehicle - user interface patterns was chosen.
