Description
Summary:This thesis aims to develop a novel frequency-domain frame synchronization algorithm for digital communication systems. The comparisons of detection performance between conventional convolution method and the proposed phase-only FFT method are conducted under five different communication channels, including AWGN channel, channel with linear phase variation, channel with phase jump, Rayleigh flat fading channel and frequency-selective fading channel. Detection SNR and detection probability are two main performance measures. From the results obtained, the proposed phase-only FFT method can always achieve higher detection SNR and detection probability than convolution method in the entire detection region. In addition, the performance analysis of phase-only FFT method is conducted. The detection SNR can be predicted from input signal SNR in dB, frame arrival time and detector buffer size.
