Smart structures are an emerging area of research with numerous potential applications in biomedical engineering, micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS), aerospace engineering and defense. Control design is one of the most important problems in the development of smart structures which require high performance of operation. In this project, the smart structure system which has the Stewart platform's configuration of six-degree of freedom (6-DOF) is investigated. A controller which achieves good vibration attenuation is designed and implemented. This project involves basic feedback theory; the PID controller development and tuning methods; notch filter design and lead-lag compensator design methods.
