Summary:Studies have shown the negative, as well as positive, influences of an overcrowded city. The impacts may be grouped into physical/environmental impacts and social/economical impacts. These impacts may subsequently affect the physical and mental health of the people. Examples are increase in prevalence of respiratory diseases, such as asthma, slower responses from emergency services, increased stress from competition in work. Survey to obtain the opinions of students on these impacts displayed significant concerns from them in ease of disease transmission, competition in school/work/housing and increase air pollution etc.
