Especially in today’s fast paced world of change and growing interrelatedness, it is necessary to understand the concept of systems thinking and apply the related systems perspectives and methodologies to organizations and large scale enterprise networks. Being a relatively new field of study, there is still much to be learnt about SoS and SoS Engineering (SoSE) processes. Dealing with the inherent complexity through SoSE processes is an issue that needs to be addressed and further studied. This report will specifically discuss the airport system as an SoS and how systems thinking and SoSE practices can be applied to enable the successful planning, design and acquisition and integration of constituent and subsystems into an inter-operable whole incorporating both new and the legacy systems.
