Summary: | G.DMT and G.Lite Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) modems and Very-high Speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) modems rely on discrete multitone modulation (DMT). Discrete multitone modulation is a multicarrier technique which makes efficient use of the channel, maximizing the throughput by sending different numbers of bits on different subchannels. In an ADSL discrete multitone receiver, a time-domain equalizer (TEQ) eliminates intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interference (ICI) by shortening the effective length of the channel impulse response. TEQ design in this thesis focuses on ADSL downstream (higher data rate) transmission. |
