There are already several approaches developed by researchers to produce graphene, including Chemical Vapour Deposition and epitaxial growth methods, Micromechanical cleavage: AFM and "scotch tape” method and the Solvothermal reduction of chemical exfoliated graphene. However, these approaches mentioned above all have its own drawback and the reliable fabrication of large-area grapheme still remains a challenge. In this project, the author seeks to synthesize graphene using the well-established Hummer method in the first step, followed by the chemical reduction with the addition of hydrazine and KOH. Then, the graphene nanosheets obtained will go through a series of characterization process such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), in order to investigate the quality of the graphene sample attained and certain properties of graphene.
