Optimization of bioconversion of green waste to sugars for ethanol production
Our project was to optimize the conditions for bioethanol production. The substrate used is lignocellulose biomass. It contains hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin. Our target is to fully utilize the cellulose contained within the lignocellulose. To achieve the target, we carried out pretreatments...

It contains hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin. Our target is to fully utilize the cellulose contained within the lignocellulose. To achieve the target, we carried out pretreatments on the lignocellulose biomass. Then, we first focused on finding the combination of microorganisms that gave the highest yield of reducing sugar. After obtaining the combination, we turned our focus to optimizing the conditions and environment for the combination of microorganisms. This report serves the purpose of reporting our findings in our 127 samples of experiments conducted in the first part to obtain the best combination, as well as to further illustrate the method of optimizing our experiment through the 60 samples conducted using the best combination of microorganisms obtained earlier. Through the results and discussion, we further explored the possibilities of factors that affected the glucose yield or rather the condition of the microorganisms. The intention of this project is to make bioethanol production more efficient through the optimization of its production mechanisms. Our project was to optimize the conditions for bioethanol production. The substrate used is lignocellulose biomass. It contains hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin. Our target is to fully utilize the cellulose contained within the lignocellulose. To achieve the target, we carried out
pretreatments on the lignocellulose biomass. Then, we first focused on finding the combination of microorganisms that gave the highest yield of reducing sugar. After obtaining the combination, we turned our focus to optimizing the conditions and environment for the combination of microorganisms. This report serves the purpose of reporting our findings in our 127 samples of experiments conducted in the first part to obtain the best combination, as well as to further illustrate the
method of optimizing our experiment through the 60 samples conducted using the best
combination of microorganisms obtained earlier. Through the results and discussion, we further explored the possibilities of factors that affected the glucose yield or rather the condition of the
microorganisms. The intention of this project is to make bioethanol production more efficient through the optimization of its production mechanisms. |
