Summary: | The Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) launched its Masterplan for IT in Education in April 1997. The Masterplan is a blueprint for the integration of information technology (IT) in education as a strategy to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
One of the targets of the Masterplan to be achieved by the year 2002 is that students will use the computers for up to 30% of their curriculum time. This means not only providing adequate number of computers but also providing appropriate software for use on the computers to support teaching and learning. MOE provides schools with a Recommended Software List that is updated as and when new software are evaluated. It has not been verified if the recommended software were adequate to achieve the goal
of using IT in 30% of the curriculum time. |
