Description
Summary:"Information Technology", and the use of "New Media" has become a focus of prime interest for policy makers in Singapore. The aggressive promotion of information technology and computer usage is exemplified in the resolve to make Singapore an "intelligent island", and to transform the island into an information hub. As a result of efforts in promoting computer usage, Singapore now has the world's second largest penetration of Internet users, after the United States. As of January 1998, there are about 6 000 Singapore-registered internet websites.
