Summary: | Outsourcing of library services has gained popularity in recent years as it is seen as a tool to help libraries in their re-engineering efforts to carry out their
activities more productively and more efficiently in the face of budget and
manpower constraints. Given the demand, book vendors have begun to provide more direct support to libraries in their procurement efforts through a variety of
services. With advancements in technology, the scope of outsourcing services is
growing rapidly, presenting unprecedented opportunities for library-vendor partnerships. To benefit from the immense outsourcing opportunities available, it
is imperative for libraries to know their options and have product as well as market
knowledge on the kind of vendor support available. This study is expected to help
meet this need. |
