Summary: | The research investigates the human resource management (HRM) practices in Singapore shipping companies. This report primarily focuses on HRM practices in recruitment. The framework of the research is based on a comprehensive review of existing literatures and supplemented with three sets of surveys to shipping companies, current employees in shipping companies and potential employees. Subsequently, interviews with various stakeholders in shipping industry (shipping companies, unions, government bodies, current employees, ex-employees and potential employees) were conducted to complement the survey results and draw out industry implications. |
