After presenting a series of viewpoints by established writers and sociologists in the field, as well as qualitative data in the form of surveys/interviews, it is shown that there is a confusing variety of ideals among Singaporeans, especially regarding the role manliness has to play in the male adult’s life. This is a problem that is rarely discussed, but a socially concerning one nevertheless. This project also examines these viewpoints and their subtleties, as well as presenting an alternative take on manliness that is powerful and timeless, yet transcends culture and ethnicity. Finally, the execution of the project will be presented as a visual solution. Key words: Manliness, Masculinity, Virtues, Archetypes, Rite-of-Passage, Father-Son bond. Word count: About 4400 words.
