Description
Summary:As the population of student increases, the use of standard test and exams is the only way of accessing a student’s ability. However, standard exams usually have long test durations and they are catered for large group of students with different knowledge levels, hence, it may not reflect the true ability of a student. The objective of the project is to develop a Web-based assessment system for O-Level Additional Mathematics that is able to estimate the knowledge level of each student in a particular topic. This system will be created based on the Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) system which makes use of Item Response Theory (IRT).This report explores the various aspects in the creation and implementation of a CAT system. CAT selects a question based on its difficulty level and the student‟s performance. In particular, test items are adjusted dynamically to an examinee‟s performance level. Compared to standard exams, it tends to yield more accurate results.
