Description
Summary:Almost all seismic monitoring systems used nowadays collect only seismic data and lack the capability to link with other sensing modules such as weather sensor, camera, gas sensor, etc. These additional sensing capabilities can prove to be extremely useful for seismology research as they do provide deeper understanding and better monitoring of the deployment areas. The purpose of this report is to describe the whole development process of a new seismic monitoring system with the capability to integrate different types of additional sensing modules. The goal of the design process is a low cost, low power consumption system with great flexibility and ease of usage. This was achieved by different approaches such as the selection of components, the adjustment of the operation modes of the devices and the operation algorithm of the system, etc.
