Description
Summary:As battery technology advances at the cell level, the performance and life cycle of electrochemical energy storage devices improve significantly. However, even if the energy density will further increase, they are still limited compared to fossil fuels. Hence, it is essential to optimize the operation of electrochemical energy storage devices to get the best performance achievable with the available chemistries. A battery management system is designed to achieve this. The developed battery management system should have the functions of determining accurate and precise state of charge and state of health, charging/discharging management, thermal management and real-time production of enhanced battery prognostic & diagnostic information for fault isolation and compensation. The achievement of these functions is based on a physically justified model. So the basic task of this project is to develop battery models.
