Hence, it is essential to optimize the operation of electrochemical energy storage devices to get the best performance achievable with the available chemistries. A battery management system is designed to achieve this. The developed battery management system should have the functions of determining accurate and precise state of charge and state of health, charging/discharging management, thermal management and real-time production of enhanced battery prognostic & diagnostic information for fault isolation and compensation. The achievement of these functions is based on a physically justified model. So the basic task of this project is to develop battery models.
