The project was proposed in 1985 to construct a four axes robot whose robustness in part location accuracy can be assured by means of artificial intelligence (AI) capability. The project stretched for 2 years from mid 1985 to mid 1987. The product of the research is an in-house 4 axes robot that is interfaced to a low cost PC and a 2D vision system, capable of recognising simple 3D objects using inferencing routines in MI (a generic prolog software runing in MS DOS).
