Multi-rate sampled-data control systems have received a considerable amount of attention from researchers during the past decades. Some of the past research work has focussed on the use of time- and frequency-domain decomposition techniques, which have been primarily developed using the z-transform method. Other work has adopted the state-variable approach, which is based on Matrix Algebra. This project aims to analyze multi-rate sampled-data control systems using both frequency-domain approach and state-space approach. Although it is more difficult to analyze multi-rate systems in frequency domain because of the mathematical complexity, it is worthwhile to proceed with the approach because insights pertaining to the multi-rate systems can be obtained. On the other hand, the state-space approach is simple and compact and analysis is easier in comparison with the classical frequency-domain approach.
