萧红与萧军的革命意志 :比较《生死场》与《八月的乡村》的女性身体刻画 = Revolutionary will of Xiao Hong and Xiao Jun : comparison of body portrayed between “The Field of Life and Death” and “Village in August”

They enjoyed great popularity throughout China. Both works are set in rural Manchuria and describe the struggle of Chinese guerrilla forces against the Japanese. Much research has been done on the two works from the perspective of theme and narrative techniques, yet none from the perspective of the “body”. The following thesis will examine the revolutionary will of Xiao Hong and Xiao Jun’s as presented in their works, with comparison of the “body” portrayed between them. Firstly, an introduction of the two authors and their respective novels would be given, followed by a review regarding the past studies on the “body”. Next, a comparison between the two works would be done to uncover the revolutionary will of both Xiao Hong and Xiao Jun, through the body metaphor of both works. Last but not least, an analysis will be given to explain the underlying difference of their revolutionary will. The limitation towards Xiao Hong, which created by the structure of the society, causing the difference of their revolutionary will.
