Summary: | Huge progress has been made in the domain of robotics technology. The large amount of benefits from deploying robots have causes an increase in robots deployed in various industries and domains including search and rescue operations.
Although numerous researches have been conducted to further improve on the technologies used in the field of robotics, much less progress has been made in developing a good User Interface (UI). It has been noted that mental workload will be high when monitoring and controlling multiple robots at the same time. Mental workload is high due to the effort needed to process the large amount of information in a multi-robot system.
Various design principle was analysed in this project to determine the design techniques that can help enhance situational awareness in monitoring multiple robots without increasing the mental workload of user. The techniques analysed were then integrated into the interface of the system built to monitor and control multiple robots to determine their effectiveness. |
