A lot of discussions on event management system in the manufacturing industry are extensively reported in varieties of papers and reports. A concept of Rule-based Event Management System (REMS) has been raised in a past final year project to help engineers and technicians manage the performance of those equipments which the manufacture possess. However, the development of this Rule-based Event Management System user interactive tool has not been completed and the user experience was not satisfied. Aligned with the requirements proposed by SIMTech, this final year project will look into available web application technologies as well as the various system architectures associated and compare their pros and cons, then work out a appropriate web application development technology to tackle the problem. A website application with basic features is expected to be completed at the end of the project for the Rule-based Event Management System.
