Summary:The student was attached to Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd for the 22 week Industrial Attachment (IA) programme, to design mechanisms for a new military vehicle. This report describes in detail how the student accomplished 2 of the tasked projects, which are 1) the design of an anti-collision device for vehicle hatch, and 2) the design of a tensioning mechanism for compressor belt. How each of the designed mechanism works will be explained thoroughly, and the advantages and disadvantages of each mechanism will be explored as well. The skills and knowledge acquired in the course of the student’s work will also be discussed in depth toward the end of the report.
