It can range from prescribing medication to ease pain, performing physiotherapy and providing counselling on how to improve medical conditions. However, with the increasing cost and ineffectiveness of conventional pain management, medical researchers have to look for alternate ways to combat the rising number of patients suffering from chronic pain. From this study, it is to see how serious games can help to distract the patients to feel less pain, improving the traditional pain management, and to incorporate Electroencephalogram (EEG) element as well to further enhance the effectiveness of treatment. A proposal of serious game and game algorithm for pain management will also be discussed.
