Description
Summary:In this thesis, ZnO and ZnO-based semiconductor materials were fabricated by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods. The optical and crystal properties of ZnO and ZnO-based semiconductor materials with and without surface plasmon (SP) effect were characterized by various techniques. This thesis focuses in two main aspects: (1) First part is the crystal and optical study of ZnO thin film, ZnCdO alloy and ZnCdO/ZnO single quantum well (QW). (2) Second part is the study of SP effect on ZnO and ZnO-based semiconductor materials. Among all the potential uses of these materials, light emitting device is one of the important applications. Thus, improving the emission efficiency of ZnO and ZnO-based semiconductors will be critical. SP effect has been certified as an effective way to enhance the emission efficiency of many semiconductor materials. So the study of the SP effect on the ZnO and ZnO-based materials will be very useful for ZnO-based light emitting devices.
