Zhou Wubiao School of Humanities and Social Sciences DRNTU::Social sciences::Sociology::Family, marriage and women In the recent years, combating decline in fertility has increasingly become one of Singapore's most important national agenda. Despite government's call to increase birth rate, with policies and incentives initiated, its citizens are still having second thoughts to having babies. This became a great concern for the government because perpetual decline in birth rate present a hurdle to its aim of achieving a sustainable, vibrant and cohesive society.
