| Summary: | Singapore’s community of homosexual Christians has been given little platform for a voice. Through covert observation in the different types of churches as well as sixteen in-depth interviews, this research aims to look at how these homosexual Christians with different backgrounds negotiate their identity in their religious community. Through the different circumstances, we see the similarities and differences that they may exhibit.
This research will also uncover coping mechanisms used in order to help them reconcile the spheres of homosexuality and Christianity. Avoidance, choosing sides as well as reinterpreting the Bible show different ways of how they manage their identity. |
