Summary: | The uprising trends of companies adopting green initiatives highlights the growing concern regarding the sustainability of the environment. Numerous researches have been done to study the motivations for companies to go green. However, it remains a question as to whether the green targets set by these organizations are indeed translated into daily practices. By looking at green practices in workplaces in different countries, this report presumes that there could have been a gap between the green strategies that a firm adopts and the practices that are carried out daily at Singapore workplaces. This could be present in both green and non-green organizations. This study extends beyond the initial objectives carried out.
After obtaining the responses from the online survey, the findings indicated that there are indeed differences in the workplace practices of management and non-management employees, and between green and non-green companies in Singapore. Further analysis also showed that employees who have worked longer in an organization are greener. Results concluded that the most common workplace practice in Singapore is the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle).
In conclusion, suggestions such as improving employee engagement and communication and usage of E-Administration to achieve similar objective as 3Rs are made. Further studies can be done to investigate the how does demographics affect green workplace practices in details. |
