Description
Summary:The project is a poetic exploration of Pasir Ris as a micro manifestation of the reality Singapore faces as it progresses into a nation with bigger ambitions despite facing spatial constraints. There is tension that arises as the quality of life of the population comes to terms with the government’s plans for urban development. My project aims to question the individual’s perception of her place in the wider concept of Singapore’s growth, using psycho geography, factual accounts and individual memory, which can be flawed. My intention is to paint a fragmentary picture of Pasir Ris as a fleeting, liminal landscape, which is a bigger reflection of a nation constantly in transition, while also questioning issues on identity and displacement.
