Summary: | In the animation short “You Can Get Away”, basic narrative structures and dynamic animation of simplistic forms was used to breathe life into the characters. The big character that accidentally strikes the smaller smaller one in the middle of baseball practice, and from this chance meeting, the pair try to settle their mutual scores with hilarious results. The emphasis on large gestures and comedic timing references animators such as Tex Avery, the use of space in shadow puppetry, and strong accented colours from old propaganda posters. Through these studies, I want to study and understand as much as possible, about the spirit and context of the 1930's and 1940's american cartoons. |
