Summary: | A lot of studies have been done on the effects of media on people‟s behavior. But,
unfortunately, amongst them, only a few studies have tried to test the effect of the
unconscious processing of the media exposure on the resulting social behavior by using it as
a background stimulus. In that case, to add into the existing information, the present study
tested the effects of prosocial background music on prosocial behavior. The result from the
present study indicated that using prosocial songs as background music are not strong enough
to invoke the prosocial behavior. The present paper provides an explanation and a few
interesting findings on why the use of prosocial songs as background music failed to affect
prosocial behavior. |
