Description
Summary:Online social networks (OSNs) have recently become an important part in everyday life of human being. The number of users has surpassed 1.4 billion and it keeps increasing every day. However, many OSNs violate the privacy of users’ information by using this information for commercial purposes without the consent of users. PriSM, a business-oriented social network, has been built to eliminate those issues. PriSM was designed with hierarchy and requirements from an organization perspective. Although PriSM already had a fully functional code base, the graphic user interface was not carefully designed and developed. This report presents an effort to revamp the graphic user interface of PriSM. I have re-designed and re-developed most of the front-end pages as compared to the previous version to provide a better user experience. A large number of custom Widgets as well as a new way to interact with PriSM have been created. However, not only the font-end code needs to be rewritten, a significant portion of the back-end code was also rewritten to deal with new requirements from the front-end code. At the end, PriSM has had a new user interface that provides a decent and effective user experience. Future work can involve improving the performance of PriSM to handle large amount of data, optimize the graphic user interface as well as re-factor my code for testing purposes.
