The performance of the catalysts was studied. The morphology and structures of the catalysts and carbon nano-materials that were produced during the methane decomposition reaction were analysed and characterised by transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. It was found that the presence of molybdenum increased the stability of the methane conversion reaction after 600C and enhanced the growth of multi-walled carbon nanotubes.
