Summary: | Throughout the ages of mankind, materials have been the crucial determinant of the competitiveness of societies and individuals. In today’s highly competitive contemporary world, a better understanding towards the structure and properties of materials is indispensible, not only for the development of new materials but also for the continual improvement of existing ones. Knowledge in materials can result in them being tailored to meet specific applications to address pressing industrial and societal challenges.
There have been numerous historical milestones and breakthroughs in the field of ceramics. Due to the attractive properties they offer, ceramic materials are used in a wide variety of applications and devices in many different fields. Ceramic technology thus plays a particularly important role in the advancement of technology and has hence emerged as a driver of technological processes in many industrial sectors.
This paper aims to introduce some of the common applications and devices in various sectors that utilize these ceramic materials. |
