The main objective for this FYP is to take part in the prestigious TechX urban Challenge 2013 competition organized by Singapore Defense Science and Technology Agency known as DSTA. The concept of this competition is making future unman combat robot to replace human soldier in the future war-torn urban landscape. Robot has to function effectively in hazards situation. And as it is going to be a replacement for human solider, multi robot collaboration is expected. And in order to navigate in urban area, function such as obstacle avoidance, stair climbing, entering building and identify target are required as well. The competition consist of several challenging task put together to form an urban operation scenario. These include outdoor navigation, static and dynamic obstacle avoidance, autonomous stair climbing, static target detection and engagement and robot cooperation. There were 15 teams signup for the competition. Only four teams managed to complete the robot and went to qualify round. And only NTU and TP team pass qualify round. So we as the only university enter the final round, has a promising chance to get S$1,000,000 research fund.
