Part 1: Synthesis of vinyl sulfones via palladium-catalyzed sulfonylation of olefins. Part 2: Trienes : Synthesis via C-H Functionalization and as precursors to complex molecules.
In Part 1, we would like to introduce a new protocol for the synthesis of vinyl sulfones via palladium-catalyzed sulfonylation of olefins using Pd(PhCN)2Cl2 (10 mol%) as a catalyst and K2CO3 (0.5 equiv) in dioxane. Both vinyl-pyridine and enamides were able to afford the corresponding products in mo...

Summary: | In Part 1, we would like to introduce a new protocol for the synthesis of vinyl sulfones via palladium-catalyzed sulfonylation of olefins using Pd(PhCN)2Cl2 (10 mol%) as a catalyst and K2CO3 (0.5 equiv) in dioxane. Both vinyl-pyridine and enamides were able to afford the corresponding products in moderate to good yields using this novel method. Substituents are well tolerated in this reaction furnishing products which are potential useful intermediate that can be used for further transformation. Next in Part 2, we would like to present results from explorative studies on the synthesis of triene via C‒H functionalization and the transformation of trienes to complex molecules. |
