Synthesis of base-stabilized heavier low valent group 14 complexes
The synthesis and the structures of group 14 element(I) dimers [LEEL] [L = 2,6-(CH=NR)2C6H3, E = Ge, Sn, Pb] and their reduction to afford the respective group 14 element anions are discussed. The treatment of [LGeGeL] and [LSnSnL] with excess KC8, afforded the germylidenide anion [LGeK.TMEDA] and s...

Summary: | The synthesis and the structures of group 14 element(I) dimers [LEEL] [L = 2,6-(CH=NR)2C6H3, E = Ge, Sn, Pb] and their reduction to afford the respective group 14 element anions are discussed. The treatment of [LGeGeL] and [LSnSnL] with excess KC8, afforded the germylidenide anion [LGeK.TMEDA] and stannylidenide anion [LSnK.THF] respectively. The first base-stabilized lead(I) dimer [LPb-PbL] was synthesized by oxidation of plumbylidenide anion [LPbLi.(THF)4] with SnCl2. Reversely, the reduction of [LPb-PbL] with lithium afforded the aromatic plumbylidenide anion . |
