Summary:This report attempts to give an outlook on the major players in China's telecommunications industry and discusses the barriers to entry which would influence the direction and speed of the industry's plans to upgrade its infrastructure. It identifies the fact that this telecommunications industry is a huge and attractive market, despite the barriers, and this represents vast opportunities for international telecoms suppliers and operators to invest in. Singapore has an competitive edge over some international players, especially in the negotiation process as it has certain strengths in its culture, language and China - Singapore governmental relations that boosts the prospects of doing business with China.
