Description
Summary:Regionalisation is a hot topic in Singapore with the government strongly encouraging domestic companies to venture abroad to seek new opportunities. However, the real value of the Regionalisation Drive is unknown. Hence, the purpose of this report is to gain insights into the benefits Regionalisation has for the Singapore economy. Case analysis of eight manufacturing companies were conducted. Results indicate that companies generally do not maintain _many links with Singapore but they do coordinate their subsidiaries' activities from their base here. This suggest that there are still certain aspects of the Regionalisation Drive that needs to be fine-tuned . We propose that public-private kereitsu-type ventures would allow more extensive linkages to be formed. For further research, this study could be replicated to cover other industries and countries.
