Summary:This study covers an evaluation of the performance of United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) from 1989 to 1993. The report uses a set ofindicators as a guidance, to analyse whether UOB is implementing strategies that will ensure its future profitability in this competitive banking industry. The purpose and motivation behind this research will be highlighted in Chapter 1. In addition, this chapter includes the scope, methodology and limitations encountered in the project. The next two chapters will introduce the reader to the brief history and organisation structure of UOB. This is followed by Chapter 4 which gives an overview of UOB's operations during the past five years. In the subsequent t\vo chapters, the report will examine the financial performance of the bank using various financial ratios and indicators. A further analysis will also be conducted on the share price and determinants of directors' remuneration using regression analysis. Lastly, the paper will conclude by grvmg a summary of the analysis; and providing recommendations and considerations for further research in this topic.
