Description
Summary:Food blogging is extremely recent social phenomenon that has quickly gained popularity around the world. As such, very little to no research has been done to study why people are engaging in food blogging. Through in-depth interviews with food bloggers and “insider research”, this paper will discover the motivations behind this phenomenon. In this research, I argue that people are using food blogging as an extension of commensality. Whereas commensality has been traditionally understood to occur only in close proximity, food blogging allows commensality to transcend this limitation. Furthermore, I contend that people use food blogging as an avenue to give others the perception that they are of a higher social class.
