Summary:This report aims to access the performance of the department store industry in Singapore and identify the critical success factors for a department store retailer. The performance of each of the four public-listed department store retailers is assessed qualitatively and quantitatively using measures such as cash flow management, customer relations, financial status, inventory management, marketing, merchandising, operational systems and personnel management. The analysis of these measures contributes to the identification of the success factors of a local department store.
