Instead, high tech devices such as the FARO Focus3D Laser Scanner enable the task to be completed within minutes with minimum handling crew. However such systems are limited in terms height and are unable to collect aerial view due to this limitations. This report will document the process in design and development of a mounting and elevating platform catered to enhance the capability of the terrain scanner. Processes such as initial concepts feasibility evaluations and exploration of lifting method were done to select the ideal and most efficient lifting method. Design development enables the author to improve on the initial design and alters it in accordance of specifications and practicability. Final forms of the design were illustrated in forms of 3D model to allow analysis such as the finite element method to be conducted to substantiate the proposal for fabrications. The idea of simplicity drove the author to come up with the designs that require simple manufacturing processes. The report will be summed up with a specially designed sequence of test with detailed method statement to ensure that the design works according to intended purpose.
