Description
Summary:Cardiovascular heart disease cannot be treated completely, however, there are various treatment that is available currently. Certain methods of treatment are discussed and explored in the conceptual design process for ideas on how a more effective and safer way of anastomosis of the Saphenous Vein to the Coronary Artery could be achieved during Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery. Currently, aside from the devices that are available from biotech companies, a more widely practised method of anastomosis would be by conventional suturing where by the connection is held strongly by stitches. In this project, three design concepts are first explored followed by evaluation and selection of the best design before moving on from the conceptual design to embodiment stage and finally to the final design. Furthermore, material selection and possible manufacturing techniques to produce such a prototype will also be discussed.
