Summary: | This report is on the design of a Solar Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) of mission requirement of Medium Altitude Long Endurance. The report focuses on the airframe configuration and design in the structural aspect of the UAV especially with respect to the wing. The first part of the report covers analysis on the wing spars, the loading and their corresponding weight in the preliminary sizing of these components. It also includes the theoretical analysis of the rib-stringer spacing in order to optimize the weight of the UAV. The second part of the report covers coupon testing on the material used for the UAV to determine its material properties. The testing includes shear coupon testing and tensile coupon testing at both room temperature and -30 degree Celsius. |
