Summary: | Dynamic Reference analog to digital converter (ADC) is a special type of ADC that samples the input in parallel and determines the output by binary search algorithm. This final year report presents a detailed approach to design an 8-bit dynamic reference ADC with 0.18μm CMOS technology. Cadence Virtuoso schematic editor and Virtuoso Analog Design Environment are used in this design.
This dynamic reference ADC is designed to convert any analog input within the range of 0 to 1V to its corresponding digital representation. Under a supply voltage of 1.8V, the ADC is expected to work at a maximum frequency of 2.8MHz. Basic blocks of comparators, voltage reference and dynamic voltage references are designed and simulated at each stage of the design work. |
